補習-Migrant workers marginized from urban culture

Chinanews, Beijing, December 18 – According to a blue book on the public culture service in China, published by the Culture Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Shenzhen Municipal Culture Administration, most migrant workers lead a life with very little cultural content, and they are at the risk of being marginized from urban culture. Mostly urban culture services are not designed to meet the needs of migrant workers from rural areas. Neither the government nor their employers pay enough attention to such problem. The blue book includes statistics collected in several Chinese cities, covering 8,000 migrant workers, finding that 35% of them spend their leisure time sleeping, 34.7% watching TV and 25% chatting. The monotonous cultural life of migrant workers doesnt imply that they have little or no need for such life. Though China has invested a great deal on public culture services, the number of cultural service providers in rural areas has been declining.
